Rain

We've had 29 days of rain this month. 29 days.

It's been grey and cold and rainy for a straight month. I'm over it. Chloe is over it.

I feel like I need some sun on my face. I think most people in Portland need some sun right now.

It doesn't look like it's going to get sunny any time soon, so I'm trying to make the best of it. I keep thinking about how much I'm going to want this weather several months from now. I'm trying to keep cozy and warm.

My new studio is in the garage and I've been working with the garage door open. It's nice to hear and see the rain so close to my work space.

Working with the door open has been a totally new experience for me. My neighbors stop and talk to me. The mail carrier (who wears fishnets) stops to chat for a minute. Squirrels come running up not knowing that I'm there...

It's been an experience. I'm looking forward to warmer temperatures, because right now it's a little chilly. all in all I'm liking it. :)

I received some paintings back from a gallery earlier this week. I always enjoy getting paintings back (even though it means they didn't sell). It's almost like seeing old friends. So, I was able to get these two paintings listed in my Etsy shop! The photos aren't great, due to lack of sunlight, but hopefully you can get a good idea.

just saw your work at the 323 East Gallery the other day! I love it! I like your choice of scale and the fact that you work on panel(i think it's panel/wood?) Any ways you have some really nice work there. Have you heard of Vija Celmens. Your work reminds me of her early work. In the way that its a study and appreciation of simple objects! And I think that's great!

Love these new pieces. I like that you are working in your garage and "open" to what might wander in or up while you are in there. :) I tried that last year for awhile and the only part that wasn't working was the neighbor kids would come and ask what are you making? What is this going to be? Is this one finished? So I decided to stay indoors unless I need to pour paint in which case I will go out in the garage for that. :)

Oops! Just left you a comment (above) as "Maleea" (my roommate) inside of as myself "Jo". I added you as "Inspiration", not Maleea, though I'm sure she would too! Jo
