How I Spent My Summer Vacation by Michele Maule

We spent most of our week last week going to music shows. Literally.

Music Fest North West was all that week and we had a wristband that let us into all the MNW shows. There were free shows at the Doug Fir during the day, so we went to those as well.

I'm going to try to remember all the bands that we saw starting (in alphabetical order) with:

agesandages
Blitzen Trapper
Dirty Mittens
Elenore Friedberger
Emily Wells
Finn Riggins
Jared Mees and the Grown Children
Little Dragon
Loch Lamond
Mini Mansions
Mnemonic Sounds
Morning Teleportation
Sallie Ford and the Sound Outside
Sean Flinn and The Royal We
Sebedoh
Sharon Van Etten
Typhoon
Unknown Mortal Orchestra
and
Y La Bamba

Needless to say it was a busy week and weekend and it was SO MUCH FUN.

I don't really know why I stopped going to see live bands...
Maybe it has to do with the fact that my bed time is often 10pm and staying out past then often makes me cranky... I also tend to hibernate in the winter. Going out in the wet and cold at night gets harder and harder. When did I get so old?

sigh.

Well, I will try to make more of an effort to get out and see bands more often. It's good for you. Somehow.

I thought I would post a couple of videos of my two favorite performers for you to enjoy!

Michelle, so glad I found your blog again. You don't need etsy-your artwork can stand alone. I'm 55 and living in Melbourne Australia and really appreciate being exposed to such great music. The people who have money for art are the invisible over 50's. Learn more about them and open a dialogue with them and you will find they are not everything old and crusty you think they are. Loved seeing the video clips that reflected my youth which seems only days ago. I am still making art too. jo
