Busy Bee

The title of this blog post reminded me of this scene in Best in Show.

anyway, goodness, I have been incredibly busy. I'm not going to lie, I've also been out enjoying the beautiful sunshine we've been having. Summer makes all that rain the rest of the year totally worth it.

Daisy

I've got a few commissions I'm working on including a couple of dog portraits. Today I met with Becki from the blog, Shopping is My Cardio. She's asked me do two illustrations of her two pups Bailey and Daisy, whom I also was able to meet. I'm looking forward to this, and I will of course share pics when I'm done!

I'm also making some big plans for my little office. I've decided that it's not a place that I really want to be and I need to change that. I feel like a little paint, some cute curtains and another desk will really spruce it up a bit. Nothing huge, but sometimes the little things really make a difference in our living and working spaces. I'm hoping that it will help inspire me a bit too. I'm looking for fresh, new, painting and etching ideas, and I'm hoping this will help out in that area.

I feel stuck and it's not my favorite feeling.

Vacation

Today is the last day in Portland for a few days.

We're leaving for Pittsburgh tomorrow and I'm excited about it! I've heard that there are some cool bridges, and lots of industrial areas. I'm hoping it helps jump start my creativity a little bit.

We decided to leave Chloe with some friends of ours. They have a little dog named Carly whom Chloe gets along very well with. This is the first time in a few years that I've been without my pup. It's going to be weird at first...I miss her already, but it's good. You don't realize how important they are to you until they're ill, or you have to leave them for awhile.

I tried to get as much work done as possible before our trip. I did manage to get quite a few things listed in my shop, and I added a lot of work to my sale section. I've been including some originals, so if you haven't checked it out in awhile, you should!

I doubt I'll be blogging while I'm away...so until next week!

Stage 2

Chloe's vet called me Thursday to give me the results of Chloe's biopsy.

She said that the margins around Chloe's tumor weren't as clean as they had hoped. There was about .3 centimeter between the tumor and her muscle tissue. So, although she did get all the cancer out, there is a slight chance that it could come back. She said that overall it is a very positive outcome and that she thinks that Chloe is going to be just fine!

It wasn't exactly the news that I had hoped for, and I'll admit when she said the words aggressive, stage two, and tumor all in the same sentence, my hand started to shake and I almost dropped my phone.

I've thought a lot about it over the last few days, and I've gotten some very kind words from my friends. My friend Leigh says, "One day at a time. " and my co-worker put it best when she said,"Of course it's scary. It's something you have no control over."

So anywho, I'm taking it one day at a time. Hoping it doesn't come back. Ever.

If there is one positive outcome to this whole ordeal (other than the cancer is pretty much all gone) it's that I have taken a whole new appreciation for my little pup. I've also come to the realization that I'm not alone in this. That there are some really wonderful people in my life that I can count on when things aren't so great.

Check It!

I was mentioned in this really cute blog today:

http://blog.lilyandtulip.com/

Very sweet, and thanks to Lily :)

Chloe is being spayed today, so she's been gone all day, and will be gone tonight.
It's weird having her gone.
There's no little friend to follow me all over the house. There's no little creature to feed, or play with, or take out a hundred times...it's weird. I'm glad she'll be back tomorrow. I hope she's not scared tonight.

Two new pieces up today.
yay!

I love working.

It's a beautiful day here, I hope it is nice in other parts of the world too.
Happy Tuesday.

Friday

It's Friday.
Hooray!

Ok, so I don't have a regular job so I guess it's not that big of a deal...but Fridays always have such a nice energy to them.

Anyway, I posted two new paintings today, and sold one. That's awesome.

I got a great convo from a woman in Oregon, Janice, sharing some really great websites with me.

These are two wonderful artists you should check em out :)

Not a whole lot going on today. Chloe got to meet my neighbor Josh's dog, Georgia, today. I think she's a pretty shy puppy when it comes to other dogs. She kinda ran away...
Georgia is a long haired dachshund with crazy coloring and one blue eye and one brown eye.
She has her own myspace : http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=55846171

Alright, speaking of Chloe I should post a picture and get home to her...
Mike took this picture. It's a picture of the sculpture just outside the Cranbrook art muesum at night. He took it with our new camera.
