I Hate Snow

We are suppose to have a snow storm here tomorrow. The same day as the Detroit Sounds and Spirits show.

Argh.
Why can't it wait until Saturday to storm??

Oh well, I am going to wait and see what happens. Maybe it will all blow over us! :)

Anyway, today has just been a weird day.
I haven't gotten a single thing done. Well, I did make some cookies for the crossing guard, Janice, down the street. She bought Chloe the cutest stocking filled to the brim with treats and sweaters! She also bought toys for all the kids that she helps cross the street every day! What a sweet lady. So Chloe and I made her some cookies, and gave her a Christmas card :)

Speaking of Chloe...guess who has been immortalized once again? Yup! Baloney and all.
Leigh Jackson of Noisy Dog Studio painted Chloe from one of the pictures I have on my Flickr page! So cute! I think I may have found my Christmas present to myself :)

Anyway, hope everyone is having a good Thursday!! One week to go until Christmas!!

Argh. Snow.

I feel like I am in that Twilight Zone episode where the people are slowly moving further and further away from the sun...and then the woman wakes up from her dream and they are really moving closer and closer to the sun...or maybe it's the other way around. I can't remember. Either way I feel like we are in the part where they are moving further away.

It snowed again tonight! Argh! It's March! No more snow!!!

Well, I guess I can't control the weather.

Holy cow. I am trying to get as much work done before I leave for San Diego as possible. I want to get my paintings for the show done, and I want to get some paintings for my Etsy shop done, and I need to get home work done. I think I can I think I can. I know I can!

So that's what I have been working on, and will be working on up until Tuesday. I leave a week form today! SUN! yay!

So here are some pictures from my day. I posted a picture of my graphic design homework here to. It took me a total of 18 hours to make those six paintings...I think I can officially call myself a gouache ninja. I can mix and paint gouache like no one else.

You can see Chloe had a tough day...and yes she is sticking her tongue out at me :) She's probably thinking how silly I am for running around all day when it's so much better lounging on the pillows. What a life...

New Work!!

Yay! I posted some new items on Etsy. It feels like it's been eons since I've done it!

I have some more, but I like to stager my postings. Besides, I am not quite done with some paintings...I'll post some pictures of those here.
I have decided that all the work that I have done since moving here relates to waiting. I feel like I am constantly waiting. Waiting for school to be over. Waiting to move back home. Waiting for Spring. Waiting, waiting, waiting. Before we found out that we would be moving we were waiting to hear back from schools. Then when we found out, we were waiting to move. It seems like when you are at this point in your life your whole existence revolves around waiting. Everything seems to stagnant and temporary. It can be so frustrating.

I am also fascinated by these images of old typewriters I found in some old typewriting manuals. I love looking at old technology and comparing it to the newest gadgets. The new Apple Air vs. an old Remington typewriter. The contrasts are so funny.

Anyway, I had a pretty productive morning. We got up to go to the gym like we usually do Thursday-Sunday. It snowed about 3" last night, but we figured that the freeway would be ok to drive. After all this is Michigan and it is a workday. We were wrong. The freeways were awful. We almost went off the road a couple of times and people generally drive like well, I won't say it, but you know...

So we turned around and went home. No gym today.
But, I did get a lot of work done. My work for the show is just about totally done. I have a couple more things to do, and then I start packaging them up.

So everyone and their mom got to see the season premier of Lost last night. Except me. I get to watch it tonight. Yay! I am so stoked! So that's what I'll be doing tonight.

That's it for today. It's still snowing a little outside. We are suppose to get 8 inches today. I can't wait until Spring...

Snowy Weekend

So we're going to get 3-8 inches of snow tonight.
It's weird. We were out and about doing errands this morning and everyone was talking about it like it was the apocalypse. This is Michigan right? I thought that this was pretty common here.

Well anyway, maybe Michael won't be able to go to school tomorrow and we can spend two days hanging out!

It's really cold out right now. My computer says it 21 degrees out...brrrrr.

We went to this really cute French cafe this morning for coffee. They have wonderful pastry chefs who make the most beautiful treats you've ever laid eyes on...mmm...French treats. That was fun. Then we went to Borders and it was insane! The line was soooo long.

*side note* Michael is on iTunes right now searching for Christmas music. Every 15 seconds I get to hear a fraction of another Christmas song. Fun stuff.

Alright. Oh I forgot to mention that I was offered to be in a group show this February in Ohio. It's called Pink Milk Studio. She has an Etsy shop:

http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=54775

She also has a website:
http://www.papercutsandgluesticks.com
it's under construction right now, but you can kinda get an idea about it :)

I am really excited about this. Now all I have to do is find something to inspire me! I just don't know what I really want to paint at this point.

We leave for my mom's house in Pennsylvania next Friday. I am worried about the weather. I hope it's good. I'm also worried about how Chloe is going to manage being in a car for 12 + hours. My plan is to have a plenitude of Bully Sticks and treats on hand. Hopefully she'll just sleep the whole way. I can't wait for my family to meet her.

Another side note. I REALLY want to see that movie Juno. I've been waiting for it to come out for so long...It has Michael Serra in it. The kid that played George Michael on Arrested Development. That show is absolute genius and if you haven't seen it, rent ALL of them. The show was canceled a few years ago, after only three seasons because I guess it was all too genius for the average American public. I had my wisdom teeth pulled last winter and for three consecutive days I laid on the couch, popped pain killers, and watched all three seasons of Arrested Development. It was awesome.

So maybe we can go see that movie later.
Ok, I promised Kim some more Chloe pictures, so here you go. I love the one where she's in time out...
