Two New

I started two new paintings today, and I got very far on one of them.

They're small. I like small.

I have several large panels in the garage, but I am so afraid of them. I have no idea how I am going to fill up all that space....

On another note, I've been doing a bit of gardening lately! My neighbor let me borrow some containers and I've planted some tomatoes, peppers, cilantro, strawberries, mint, and some basil. I had forgotten how much I love planting things and working in the yard.

It's so meditating and there is such a feeling of accomplishment from it. Chloe loves it too. We bought her a long lead so she can hang out in the yard with us while we work. Lots of sunbathing is going to be in that little dog's future.

New Paintings!

I've spent the past couple of days hunkered down in my garage/studio painting my little heart out.

So far I'm happy with the progress I've been making. While editing the photos for this post, I noticed a couple of changes I'd like to make, but overall I'm pleased.

I always tend to have a them with my series, but I don't really have one for these paintings. I've been looking back at my photos from this past year, and picking the ones that I find myself drawn to the most. Pretty simple :)

Rain

We've had 29 days of rain this month. 29 days.

It's been grey and cold and rainy for a straight month. I'm over it. Chloe is over it.

I feel like I need some sun on my face. I think most people in Portland need some sun right now.

It doesn't look like it's going to get sunny any time soon, so I'm trying to make the best of it. I keep thinking about how much I'm going to want this weather several months from now. I'm trying to keep cozy and warm.

My new studio is in the garage and I've been working with the garage door open. It's nice to hear and see the rain so close to my work space.

Working with the door open has been a totally new experience for me. My neighbors stop and talk to me. The mail carrier (who wears fishnets) stops to chat for a minute. Squirrels come running up not knowing that I'm there...

It's been an experience. I'm looking forward to warmer temperatures, because right now it's a little chilly. all in all I'm liking it. :)

I received some paintings back from a gallery earlier this week. I always enjoy getting paintings back (even though it means they didn't sell). It's almost like seeing old friends. So, I was able to get these two paintings listed in my Etsy shop! The photos aren't great, due to lack of sunlight, but hopefully you can get a good idea.

Home

I started working from my home studio today.

It reminded me a lot of when I lived in Michigan. It was good. I liked working from home, when I lived there. It was nice. Well, aside from the loneliness...

I got a lot accomplished and started prepping new panels for new paintings. I have a show in July, in Arkansas, and I seriously need to get a move on with them. I'm hoping to have 20 new paintings by the end of May. Yeah. We'll see how this goes!
