Yeah.
So I haven't really left the house other than to walk Chloe and to go to the Dairy Queen by our house in about a week...weird...I am not really sure how I feel about that.
Isn't Dairy Queen a really weird name when you think about it? Dairy. Queen. Like the Queen of all Dairies? Hhhmmm...weird.
Anyway, I am leaving the house today! Michael has been teaching this painting class to some high school students the last few weeks. It's like this summer program that Cranbrook offers, which os pretty cool. So tonight they are having a little gallery opening for the students and their paintings. I think that's pretty cute. So I am going to go check it out! yay! I love that kinda thing.
Not a lot going on this weekend. I got my wheat paste and paper yesterday so I will be spending most of my weekend with my press! I might do some screen printing too. We shall see.
Dude! What is up with Etsy sales this month? It's actually really depressing...I am trying to stay positive but it's kinda hard...
I am using this time to get my shop all stocked up and ready for the holidays, and I also have applied to a couple of really big art/craft fairs in the area, so I am trying to get ready for those too. If I am accepted that is...but even though I am really busy, it's hard not to get bummed out about sales...oh well. I am sure things will pick up soon. I KNOW they will!!
Hope everyone has a good weekend!!

Can I just say thank you so much for the thoughtful comments on my blog! First, it led me to the discovery of your work! I love the top painting. Also, I so feel your pain on the esty sales this month! Must have something to do with summer vacations and the 4th and all. Maybe all the fun money is budgeted for the the bbq.
here's my 2 cents...
your work has so much feeling. it draws people in. i too think it's summer. vacations and not being in front of the computer.
how wise to focus on making work.
have a great weekend.

Gosh, if YOU'RE not selling much on Etsy, I don't feel so bad, then. It's ok; bad economy...people need to eat, get gas, AND conserve. We get pushed to the back burner. Things will turn around. Just gotta ride it out. Love this telephone pole!
i too say build up your inventory--for when all the peeps freaking about the economy start spending money again. i work @ a bistro to round things out and it's been PATHETIC. literally 1/3 of this time last year. people are being frugal because of gas prices and this country was not built on a "walk more, drive less" model. you've said yourself that you hafta drive to get starbucks(as a fellow northwesterner, i KNOW how much this is against your moral value, your sense of what's right in the world, and your satisfaction for your coffee fix). i hate to sound all doomsday, but art may be the first thing cut in a lot of budgets when mortgage/rent, gas, student loans, credit cards, cars and tanning packages hafta be paid. i my sound cynical by including tanning, but i am cynical about americans values.
i guess i just hijacked your site for a rant.
but, really people, buy art! not crappy coffee!!!!
"you've said yourself that you hafta drive to get starbucks(as a fellow northwesterner, i KNOW how much this is against your moral value, your sense of what's right in the world, and your satisfaction for your coffee fix)"
I love this! This is so true!! It goes against ALL my moral values :)
Yeah, I understand that people are a lot more concerned with how they are going to fill their tanks, and pay for groceries, and all that stuff. I know I am...so until the economy starts to improve I will continue to make art, eat lots of ramen, and be happy :)
I hope you're stocked up for the holidays, because one of your beautiful peices of work is going on my Christmas list for sure *crosses fingers*.
