Leaving on a Jet Plane

I'm leaving for San Deigo tomorrow!

I'm excited. I h
aven't been back since last March, and I am looking forward to seeing my friends. We leave the following day, on a road trip, to Bakersfield for the opening of my solo show, at the Surface Gallery. I am so so so nervous. So nervous. Gah.

I know everything will be fine, I'm just not very good
about talking to people about my work. Maybe a few glasses of wine will help :)
I hope so. M
aybe my friend Kim can just pretend to be me all night. She's really good about talking to people. Yeah...that probably isn't the best.

Oh well. It's going to be fun. It's going to be
a lot of fun.
So, if you don't he
ar from me, it's cos I'm on the road with my friend K.Trinks, heading to Bakersfield, Ca. Living it up Thelma and Louise style...without the whole death thing at the end, of course.

ps. This is my newest p
ainting :)

I wear glasses and we always manage to buy the same clothes even though we are a billion miles apart.....I'm sure the whole playing your part thing would go over quite well.

I think your art is amazing - so the show can only be a success! If you do not know what to say about your art, throw the question right back at them, e.g. "I am really interested to know how YOU interpret that" ... etc.

forgot to say how much I loved the story about the bug farmer. wow...

i hate talking about my work. people always want to tell me what it reminds them of or they tell me it's "cute". i hate being called cute. what i finally came to was telling people i'm an illustrator and i'm illustrating stories. eeekk. i empathize.

have fun on your trip.

We just finished the final touches on the show and it looks great! The work fills the space beautifully. I can't wait to finally meet you in person. And don't worry about talking to the Bako locals, I'm sure you will be fine. Everyone has said such great things about your work already. See you tomorrow!
