Today.

This is what I've been working on today and most of last week!

It's for
a group show at Surface Gallery in Bakersfield, California.
The lovely l
adies who own, and run, the gallery are putting together a bicycle show to promote bicycling in their area. So I'm including this painting and the Green Lightening painting that I have.

The pink cherry blossoms
are really inspiring me lately. I'm dieing to do a screen print of them...

Best. Night. Ever.

Yes!

My opening was a huge success. It surpassed anything that I had imagined it would be. Yvonne and Vikki, who run the gallery, are two amazing women. They are such a pleasure to work with.

The gallery space is beautiful. Both ladies did such a great job displaying my work. It looked lovely. I think it was the perfect space for my pieces. I sold 14 out of 28 on opening night! Yay! It had to be one of the best nights of my life. Really.

I was also featured in the local paper, which is just so amazing to me.

The rest of my trip was wonderful too. I loved hanging out with my friend Kim, and catching up. We went to the pool, we did a little shopping, we ate some good food, and drank lots of good coffee. Thanks K! You're the best!

Leaving on a Jet Plane

I'm leaving for San Deigo tomorrow!

I'm excited. I h
aven't been back since last March, and I am looking forward to seeing my friends. We leave the following day, on a road trip, to Bakersfield for the opening of my solo show, at the Surface Gallery. I am so so so nervous. So nervous. Gah.

I know everything will be fine, I'm just not very good
about talking to people about my work. Maybe a few glasses of wine will help :)
I hope so. M
aybe my friend Kim can just pretend to be me all night. She's really good about talking to people. Yeah...that probably isn't the best.

Oh well. It's going to be fun. It's going to be
a lot of fun.
So, if you don't he
ar from me, it's cos I'm on the road with my friend K.Trinks, heading to Bakersfield, Ca. Living it up Thelma and Louise style...without the whole death thing at the end, of course.

ps. This is my newest p
ainting :)

Yes!!!

So I decided to do something a little out of my conservative spending the other day...
I've been really thinking about this upcoming show at the Surface Gallery, and how much I really want to go. It's my first solo show, and the ladies who run it are so sweet, and the gallery looks so cute!

To make a long story somewhat short...I bought tickets!!
I bought tickets to San Diego, because my really good friend, Kim lives there.
So the plan is to fly to San Diego, rent a really cute little car, and take a little road trip up to the gallery on opening night! Squeeeeeeee!!!

We are both really excited about this! I'm really happy that she's going to go with me. She's never been to any of the shows I've been in, and this is my first solo show at a gallery, so I'm am even more excited.

(How many times can I use the word excited in this blog post?)

anyway, this is going to be so much fun! yay! I'm pretty sure this is going to be the best summer ever!

Tuesday!

Today went a bit smoother than yesterday.
Thankfully!

Got some work done, but mostly took a break today.
Hung out with my neighbor Kelly, drank some afternoon drinks, and got all caught up on my gossip magazines! Yay!

I did manage to get two small paintings done, some orders put together, and some more prints to send out to Tilde, in Portland, Oregon.

My show in July is almost done! I have two more illustrations to do and frame, and then it's just touching up and putting the finishing touches on the paintings.

Oh! also, I bought tickets to fly out to San Diego in July!! yay! I'm going to fly down to see my friend Kim, then we are going to rent a car and drive up to Bakersfield to attend the opening of my show at Surface Gallery! I'm so excited and happy about this. It should be a lot of fun. I'm mostly excited that Kim will be able to attend not only one of my openings, but my first solo show.

Yes! Okay...that's all I got today. Hope everyone is having a good Tuesday!

Monday Poop Day

Blerg.

Today has been one of those days.
Nothing seems to be working out in my favor.

I thought I was going to get so many things done, but it just doesn't seem to be happening.
Just a little note, gouache does not work well on gesso...

I managed to get some of my paintings for Surface Gallery finished up today.
I still have so much work to do for this show. It's starting to make me a little nervous. Plus packing and getting things ready for numerous boutiques and small stores...eeks! Sometimes it's so hard not to get overwhelmed. I haven't even started thinking about packing yet. I'm trying not to just for the sake of my sanity. One thing at a time. One. Thing. at. a. Time.

I did manage to have quite a good weekend. We saw I love You Man (very funny) with some friends and we were invited over to dinner last night by our neighbors. I feel like I've been so much more social these last couple of weeks. It's good. I was spending a lot of time alone there for awhile...

anyway, I hope everyone had a good weekend, and that your Monday has been a little more productive than mine.

First Post of 2009!

So lets see.
Not a lot happened since my last blog.
I did take some days off to just hang out, which was really nice.

I started back to getting work yesterday, and I feel really good about it.
I began the paintings for the Surface Gallery, in Bakersfield, for my show in June.

I also started some new paintings for the Fact and Fancy Gallery in Brooklyn.

I am having a hard time deciding on what to paint.
I know what I am painting for Fact and Fancy, but I am relatively clueless about Surface. I have several ideas, but nothings seems cohesive. Sometimes I feel so schizophrenic when it comes to my ideas for paintings. I feel all over the place...
Michael says to just go for it. Just paint what I want without thinking about it too much.
Maybe I will. See what happens.

Last night while browsing Flickr I came across these two blogs that I found really inspiring.
The first is Obsessive Consumption. A daily drawing of something she bought that day. I love this. So much. She also lives in Portland, and that makes me happy.

The other one I found is My Love for You is a Stampede of Horses. Some amazing artists to check out. Sigh. So many amazing artists. I got lost there for quite some time.

Well, I hope everyone is having a good start to the New Year. So far so good here.
A little over fourth months to go...
