My friend, and co-worker, Robert was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer this past Spring. He passed away Thursday afternoon. He worked in the bulk department, which shares space with kitchen gadgets. My least favorite aisle. If I saw Robert working on the aisle, I didn't mind going to stock the kitchen wares. I knew we would have a good conversation (even with interruptions as to where one could find bulk____ fill in the blank) and we would make me smile with some weird fact or funny Onion like headline.
We'd often talk about art and music. He was a great listener, a great friend and one of the sweetest kindest people I have ever met.
Yesterday was the saddest, hardest day. I would rather work a whole lifetime of day before Thanksgivings, than ever work that day again.
Thanks for some great memories and coffee my friend.
