It's a rainy 50 degree day in Pontiac and I am loving it! It feels like Portland. Especially since I have been listening to Radiohead and Death Cab for Cutie all day.
Only 2 months and 28 days! :D
I've been doing a lot of painting these last few days. Lots of work to do for my show in June. 30 pieces of work is really overwhelming for me, and I am really worried that I won't be able to get 30 done. We'll see...
I really like the clocks. Since so much of my thoughts are revolving around time, and counting days, I thought it would be appropriate to do some pieces that relate to that.
Well, I should be getting back to painting. Oh! By the way, I am featured on the VinylRocksMyWorld Blog :) Check it!
It's a really great Fall day. It starting to feel like fall more and more everyday and I love it.
I'm listening to Death Cab's Transactlanticism album and it's really bringing back memories of this time 4 years ago. Was it four years ago? I don't know...but I bought this album in the fall a few years ago, and it's reminding me of that time in my life...
There's things I miss, and things I don't. People I miss, and people I don't...
It's funny how certain smells and music can be so...memory inducing :)
Anyway, got a lot of work done today, and I want to get some more done. The self portraits are slow going. Oh well, I don't want to rush them.
I mostly worked on a commission piece and put some finishing touches on somethings. Yup. I think I am going to make some tea, and get some more work done. Happy Monday.
ps. Kim, don't freak out. Remember to go for your walks :) Love you.
OK. So Friday isn't as significant to me as it is to other people, but whatever.
It's been a busy week. A crazy week. August has been the best month I have had on Etsy yet, and I am really pleased with that. September is next month, and I am really excited about that. Fall is right around the corner!
Anyway, I didn't get any work done today...so not much to talk about. Michael didn't have to work until 4 today, and it's not easy for me to make things when he's around. I am someone who has to be alone, with music, to feel comfortable making art.
Speaking of music, I thought I would add some videos of some of the music I have been listening to lately.
I think I am obsessed with the new Death Cab for Cutie album. I really love this video that they made for I Will Posses Your Heart. I also have a huge crush on the lead singer, Benjamin Gibbard...but so does every other "indie" kinda girl :)
The Decemberists! They're from Portland, and the Valencia is actually called the Palms, and is right down the street from where I use to work :) And the girl is actually in Portland band called Talkdemonic. She was also our barista at the Freshpot on Hawthorne in Portland....she makes an awesome soy latte.
I love this song. I love this band. I love her dance moves.
This song holds a special place in my heart. I worked at several supermarkets on and off for 7 years. I also really like this video, even though it's a little shaky, and it's not actually the Clash. It reminds me of my best friend and I. When we were in the 8th grade, our favorite thing to do was go to Target and puch each other around in the shopping cart...
Alright. That's all I got for today. Hope everyone has a good weekend...
