Have I mentioned yet how much I love being home?

I'm sitting at the Bi-Partisan Cafe right now, listening to the baristas shout out orders, and Wilco playing over the speakers. I love this. I rode my bike here, and was actually a little afraid to come out this morning...

It's weird to have lived in a place, where I felt almost stuck inside for so long. Now, that I have the freedom to ride my bike, to do something as simple as get a cup of coffee, is really intimidating for me. But, I decided that I needed to get out of the house this morning, and coffee is always on my list of favorite things...so I did it. I'm so glad I did.

I was in search of a little inspiration this morning, and I think I've found it.

Hope everyone is having a great Thursday. I'm planning on heading out to First Thursday this evening. If you live in Portland, and wander downtown tonight, maybe I'll see you there.

No Internets Part 2

So I still don't have internets and it doesn't look like I will have them tomorrow either.

I am getting an amazing amount of stuff done, but I think it's all counter balanced by the fact that I have to drive 15 minutes to a coffee place, set up, post, blah blah blah..

Anyway, I took a bunch of pictures for my Etsy but I think most of them are pretty crappy, so I have to retake them I was going to post a bunch of stuff today, but the best pictures are even that great...that's ok though. Maybe I can get Mike to leave to good camera at home tomorrow.

So I finished this painting and I am pretty happy with it. The picture is really bad, but hopefully I can get a better one tomorrow.

I'm Home

I made it back in one piece.

It was amazing. I had so much fun. Coming home was really hard.

So I went to all the big museums. I ate pizza, and Chinese food, and hot dogs, and muffins, and drank lots of coffee.

I rode the subway. By myself. Without dieing.
Yay me :)

I met Craig, of Cubist Literature, and got to visit his amazing studio in Red Hook.

I did so many things and visited so many places, that I think I made myself a little sick. I had the worst migraine yesterday, and was so tired that I just slept and watched Flight of the Concords all day.

I did manage to feel a little bit better by the end of the day thankfully. I had to drop of some work at the Fact and Fancy Gallery in downtown Brooklyn. The gals that runs the gallery are really nice, and the space is very cute. I am excited to be part of their fist show!

I know that there are a million things that I am leaving out and that I wanted to talk about, but I just can't remember them all right now.

All I can say is that I had an amazing time and that I laughed more this week than I have in a long time....and I even learned a couple of new things about myself in the end. Good times.

Glasses are Hott

I got new glasses this weekend.

They are awesome. I also got sunglasses. I have wanted a pair of prescription sunglasses for...um..I don't know...5 years....and I now have a pair.

Funny story about how I started wearing glasses.

When I was young, maybe 7 or 8, I thought glasses were really cool, and I wanted a pair. I even went as far as asking my parents, at this age, for an eye exam. I passed it, but I was determined to wear glasses.

I don't know why I wanted to wear glasses. I just thought they were really cool. I think a part of me wanted people to think I was really smart. Sure, I wanted people to think I was pretty, or cute, but if I just had a pair of glasses people would think that I was really smart. Right? I mean, all the smart girls on t.v. wore glasses...

So, I think in the third grade they started having yearly eye exams in classrooms. I passed every year...until the fifth grade. I still really wanted a pair of glasses by this time, and I had been passing the eye exams with what seemed like flying colors. How was I ever going to get to wear glasses if my eyes were fine?

So, I did what every reasonable kid in my shoes would do when they really want something they can't have...I lied. Just a little! I told the eye exam lady that I couldn't really see a couple of letters...yeah. :)

But!! I went to a real eye doctor...after the school eye exam, and he did an exam, and I actually did kinda need to wear glasses.

So I got my glasses. I loved them...and I still love them. And as the years went by my eye sight got worse worse, and now I can't see 2 feet past my nose.

My mom and or step dad are going to read this and:

a) will think it's really funny

b) be really mad at me.

Either way I think I am going to get a phone call later....

So I had a great weekend.

I tried to stay away from the computer and working...
It's funny that when you work for yourself, at home, you forget that you can take a day off.
So I tried...

I also got two awesome things in the mail!

Then on Saturday I received some very tasty coffee from BrainScan coffee, which can be bought on Etsy! It is really good...really good.
Between her coffee, and the Stumptown coffee...I am set!
