Hood River

View from downtown Hood River
Yesterday was a beautiful Sunday and we drove out to Hood River to enjoy some delicious pizza and beer at the Double Mountain Brewery.

Pretty day for visiting.
Driving.
Hood River is about an hour away from Portland. It's in the Columbia River Gorge, located right on the Columbia River. There are many breweries and wineries out in this area. One of our favorites happens to be Double Mountain. They don't bottle their beers to sell at stores, so we get a case of the them and bring them home. The food is really good too, most notably the pizza. Good food, good friends and good beer. It really doesn't get better than that.

Sight seeing at 60 mph.

It was nice to get away for the day. I needed that. It felt like a little mini vacation :)

Thank You!

Thanks everyone for the great comments on my previous blog!
I'm feeling so much better
about them and I am totally rocking them.
(Th
anks for that, Megan!)

I w
as so excited and nervous about the glasses situation that I forgot to blog about my great dinner with my friend Mary!

We went to
a Pizza Scholls over on Hawthorne last Wednesday.
a Pizza Scholls isn't your typical pizza place...

They m
ake all of their own dough, by hand, there. Because they hand make all their dough, they can only make so much at a time. So, if you want to get a pizza there you have to show up right when they open. Often times they run out of pizza dough while you are still in line too!

So we m
ade sure to show up early. I was the first in line!
and yes, it was totally worth it.
It's some of the best pizz
a. Ever.

Next week we're doing
a Tarot Card reading at Secret Society....ohhhhh yes! Looking forward to it.

Well, on
another note, Craft Wonderland Super Colossal sale is in a week and a half. am I freaking out? yes. Oh yes. Yikes! So, if you don't hear much from me in the next week or so, well, it's either because I've lost my mind, or I'm just too busy to blog.

C O M M U N i T Y

Yay for community!

I never really thought about community and what it means until I worked for New Seasons.
New Seasons is a locally owned grocery store that strives to proved local produce and products to the community. They want to create a store that not only provides groceries for the neighborhood, but also support the community by creating jobs and supporting local farms and food peeps. New Seasons really stress the idea of knowing where your food comes from and learning about the people that provide it.

Bringing people together through food! It's a wonderful way to connect with people and learn about each other.

And with that I would really like to introduce a fellow Etsy peep's newest endevor a cookbook that provides receipies from all of your favorite Etsy sellers :) JJM Finance has compiled a cookbook that features Etsy sellers best recipies :) What better way to bring a community of artists together than through food! Yay!!

The cookbook Sharing Recipies...Sharing Life not only provides some really great recipies, but also stories behind the recipies. I am really happy that he decided to do this. I love being a part of the Etsy community, and I think that this is a wonderful way to take part in that.

After reading the intro to this book I really started to think about community and about this little internet community that I have been taking a part in. I have come to the realization that there is a really amazing community that exsists through the internets, and without it it would be really difficult to make a living and share our work with so many people.

One of the things that I miss most about Portland is it's strong community, especially within the art scene. It's a really tight knit group of people where everyone pretty much knows everyone, and I really miss that. However, with the internets I still feel like I am part of a really great, talented, group of people and that makes me feel a little less lonely :)

Alright...I am going to go see if I have all the ingrediants for AnnieRexic's easy vegan apple crisp :) Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Much Better

The last few days have been pretty blah. Just didn't feel like making anything or doing anything...

But today has been much better!

I got a lot of work done and I came to the conclusion that I really wasn't happy with about three of the paintings that I have been working on. So I am sanding them out and starting over. It's good though. I am glad that I realized this before it was too late, and I had to send them out to the galleries.

I have a better idea of what I want to paint, and it's good.
I have a lot of ideas going on in my head, and it's really just a matter of prepping some panels, and a larger canvas, to get started...I am excited again. Yay!

Do you ever just get stuck? Like you are kinda waiting for some new ideas or some inspiration and then it hits you and you can't wait to get to work? I love that feeling.

Anyway...I am actually really really hungry. We don't really have any snacks in the house, and because I can't really cook, I just eat snacks for lunch, and because there aren't any snacks in the house all I had for lunch was a Diet Coke and I am starving!! Wow, the grammar and punctuation in that sentence is beyond horrible...but I don't really care :)

Oh! I made a treasury!
Check it!

I'm Home

I made it back in one piece.

It was amazing. I had so much fun. Coming home was really hard.

So I went to all the big museums. I ate pizza, and Chinese food, and hot dogs, and muffins, and drank lots of coffee.

I rode the subway. By myself. Without dieing.
Yay me :)

I met Craig, of Cubist Literature, and got to visit his amazing studio in Red Hook.

I did so many things and visited so many places, that I think I made myself a little sick. I had the worst migraine yesterday, and was so tired that I just slept and watched Flight of the Concords all day.

I did manage to feel a little bit better by the end of the day thankfully. I had to drop of some work at the Fact and Fancy Gallery in downtown Brooklyn. The gals that runs the gallery are really nice, and the space is very cute. I am excited to be part of their fist show!

I know that there are a million things that I am leaving out and that I wanted to talk about, but I just can't remember them all right now.

All I can say is that I had an amazing time and that I laughed more this week than I have in a long time....and I even learned a couple of new things about myself in the end. Good times.

Frames!

Yes.
It's true.

From this point on most of my paintings are going to be framed.
It just looks so nice.
Yay!

My head hurts a little today. Not enough water, and I think I should eat something. Today has been one of those days that I just forgot to eat. It happens pretty frequently actually.

So I am going to keep this short so I can remember to eat food.

I don't know what I am going to have. We don't have much...

Dinner suggestions are welcome :)

Alright. Friday! Whohoo!
