Homesick X 100

I feel so homesick today.

I didn't wake up feeling this way, it just kinda hit me this afternoon.

I was thinking about walking to the Bipartisan cafe, and how I use to run into Angie there all the time...and we'd drink coffee and talk about what we were going to do that day, and maybe make plans to drink beers and have a BBQ later...

Anyway, it's less than a year now, I gotta push past this...less than a year. Less than a year! 11.5 months!

So I worked on some paintings today, posted a new illustration, and a new painting in my shop.
Taking pictures of my work is so hard. I don't know if any one else has this trouble, but I always feel like the picture really doesn't do the piece any justice...I guess that holds true in art history books as well. Not that I am comparing myself to a Botticelli or anything!! But good Lord, when I saw his paintings in person...I seriously almost cried. Ok, that's a little dramatic :)

Ah well. I should go for a run. It's nice outside...

Oh!! We got a little tomato baby on our cherry tomato plant!!
The best part about summer is eating cherry tomatoes by the bowl full, and still having plenty more for the next day...

I just discovered you on etsy. I think you might be brillant. I am blown away with your talent. I know living in Pontiac might seem even more dirty than the Dirty D (Detroit) itself...but Metro Detroit does have some interesting/fun spots. No Portland, but give it a chance. Have you been Canada hopping yet? Ann Arbor? Ypsi? I live in Canton: Home of Ikea (That about sums the culture up...) Anyhow. You're great from what I see. Keep it up! Thanks~ Audrey. I have been to Canton 3 times.
All Ikea related trips :)

I have wanted to check out more of Detroit, and have actually been to a couple of art openings, but with gas prices so high right now, it's hard to get down there as often...

I have also been to Ann Arbor several times and I really love it there. I wish Cranbrook could be located there!!

Thanks for the encouraging words!! I always appreciate them...

Hi Michele,

I wish I could help with your homesick feelings. I think you are really brave. Maybe you'll feel better when you read my pollen tale of woe from here in Eugene. What is so great is that you haven't given in, and have been so productive.

garden city is right, love the new work.

Michele,

I’ve moved around a bit and know how challenging new places can be. Push through the sadness and you’ll find something good on the other side. And isn’t it nice to know you have a bunch of people out there in the world wishing you well!

You have tomatoes already???!!!! I’m in Minnesota and it hasn’t warmed up enough, or been sunny enough, for things to grow past infant stages. I dream of fresh tomatoes, my favorite of the veggies I get from my garden. Have you tried grape tomatoes? Better even than cherries.

Your work is fabulous, I hope you sell lots more in your local gallery; that might help you feel more affinity to your new home.

Artfully,

Kim
