Yes We Can!

Wow!

I am so happy and so beside myself today.

Last night, as everyone knows, Barack Obama won the presidential election.

I think that this is a sign of great things to come. Speaking for myself, I am tired of this administration and everything that it has put us through. I am tired of the war, and all the talk about the terrible shape our economy is. Mostly I am tired of the all negativity that has surrounded us for the last eight years.

Barack Obama is inspirational. Not only in his message, but also as a person. I have never had the privilage to live in a United States where people actually look up to the president as a hero. As somone who is truly respected and admired. Someone who really deserves to be the president. I realize that not everyone feels the same way, but I feel that a majority of the country does, and I think that is what is most important.

I have never been to big on discussing politics in my blog, or even with people that I am not very close to. However, this election has really moved me. I knew that which ever way the outcome went last night I was going to be a teary mess in the end. But that wasn't the case at all. I was in total shock. I realized that after 10 mintues my mouth was still wide open. I didn't know what to say, or feel, or think. I watched the speaches, and I tear came down, but that was it.

Not until this morning, when reality really set in. I was in the middle of working out, and I just lost it. I am in fact tearing up as I right this. I just can't fathom how important this is for our country. How incredible it all is.

It is truly inspirational. He is truly inspirational. I can honestly say that I am proud of my country today. For the first time. Maybe the first time ever.

Thanks.

It's inspirational that there is hope in all of this. That when each party did their last speech- they both realized that the country was changed. Yes we can. :)

I am so very pleased and happy for you all, I watched it unfold yesterday afternoon on TV and it gave me hope for our own elections which are on Saturday.

As I sat on the beach last night and watched the 5th November Guy Fawkes celebrations in my mind I was celebrating the change the world is about to embrace.

I can't seem to stop smiling today!!! We were able to watch the results with a group of friends and then participate in this joyful chaotic madness: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/photogalleries/photography2008353001/2.html

I have been smiling all day.
I will never forget where I was when he was projected the winner. I will never forget jumping up and down and screaming at the top of my lungs. I will never forget all the people around me and all the warm embraces and tears.

We elected an eloquent, elegant and intelligent President!! I too am truly proud to be an American for the first time! What a feeling!
