Smile

Things that made me smile today:

Chloe. always. We bought this cute bench this past weekend, fully intending it for Chloe Bean. I'd love to have it re-upholstered someday. It's super cute, and Chloe instantly jumped up so she could keep an eye on the neighborhood.

My neighbor Caroline. She's about 65, born and raised in Portland. She's about 4' tall but has the biggest laugh and an even bigger personality. We've been going on walks when the weather cooperates, and that always makes me smile.

My hair stylist, Staci. I've been getting my hair cut by her for over 10 years. She always makes my hair look so amazing. I often wish I would run into ex-boyfriends after getting my hair done, by her. I never do ;)

Random Thoughts

These are the random thoughts I was having while working today.

I was working on an illustration for my friend Mary's mom. Mary lives in Portland. Portland has really good food. One of my favorites is Burgerville. Burgerville has THE best milkshakes. Michael and I have both talked extensively about how we are going to stop at the first Burgerville we see on our road trip back. I wonder where it is. I think there is one in Idaho...maybe I should look that up so that we can plan our trip around stopping at Burgerville.

We are definelty eating at El Burrito Loco on the first night home. God, it's 8 months until we move and I am already planning out all the restaurants we have to eat at...

When my friend Kim comes to visit that's what we do. We plan her visit around all the good places to eat. Elephants for the orange something soup, The Cricket for breakfast, McMennimens for baskets of tater tots and bear....mmm...OMG. Why am I doing this to myself.

On another note this dress was on the front page of Etsy today. It's by Holly Stalder and I really really want it. For my wedding. She's from Portland too!
Le sigh. Oh well. Things will work out.

Ok. So PoHo is pretty packed right about now. Lots of new neighbors. It's exciting. Everyone seems really nice so far. I think it's going to be a great year. Also no crazy people in the basement. That's always a good sign.

Alright. Speaking of neighbors, a couple of them want to go out to dinner. I feel like such a social butterfly :)

Heat Hot Hot

So two weeks ago our land lord decided that he was going to cut down all of the trees on the side of our yard. I won't give you the reason...although if you e-mail me I'll give you the haps...but I knew that this was going to pretty much suck for us.

To begin with, without our trees we can see directly into our neighbors house. Which also happens to be a funeral home. Also, because all of those tress provided wonderful shady shade, without them our apartment gets pelted with sun from about noon until 7 o clock...which also means we have to run our air conditioner almost all day. Before we just turned it on at night so we could sleep a little easier. I hate using the air conditioner all day, but we would roast if we didn't.

Anyway, I was a little upset today at someone...not naming names...but Michael got this really funny picture of me going off on a rant :) and no that's not a crater in my face on the left side, it happens to be one of the many dimples I inherited from my grandma.

Between ranting and packaging up paintings, I managed to post a painting on Etsy. Things have been pretty slow these days over in Etsy land, so I signed up for the month long membership over at Trunkt. It's nice because it tells you a lot of stats that you wouldn't know otherwise. Like how many people visited your Etsy shop directly from Trunkt, and how many visits you got in a month, and how many showcases you are/were in. So we'll see how that goes. I don't think I am going to purchase the full year unless I start getting crazy traffic and sales, I just thought since it's been so slow this month I'd give it a try.
