Egads!

I like that word. Egads!!

haha.

Anyway...I said that the other day when Michael said that he had built 83 panels of varying sizes for me!!! Egads! 83...panels....I *hope* that will get me through the summer. If it doesn't, well, I am going to raise my prices 125% and hire an assistant :)

I had a good weekend. Not as much work done as I would have liked, but I am waiting for my panels to be finished so I can get to work on them. I want to put more paintings in my shop....

I went to a craft fair in Flint that was really fun. It was called Flint City Handmade. It took about an hour to drive there, but Flint was actually kinda cute. I thought it would be like Pontiac. Run down and abandoned, but it wasn't. They even had really good coffee! :) yay!

I also met a fellow Ety peep! yay! My first Etsy peep. His Etsy shop is Kill Taupe and he was recently a featured seller. I bought these awesome Detroit Hooker magnets :)

I almost met him a few weeks ago at the 323 Gallery opening...he has work there too...but I was too shy. Anyway, this time I just walked right up and said hi, and he was really really nice. He's thinking about moving to Portland! He totally should. I think he would fit right in.

Anyway..that's about it. Look for new paintings very soon...very very soon.

Have a good Monday.

ps only 8 days until I leave for NYC!!

I Can Feel It

Today is going to be a good day.

A really good day.

I don't know why....but it is.

So we found out that we won't be able to use the Cranbrook wood shop over the summer.
That means we won't be able to build any panels. For Four months.

Did I freak out? Oh, just a little.

So last night we went to Home Depot and stocked up on handi panels and 1 x 2s.
Michael is planning on building all the panels that he can over the next few days.
Hopefully that will last me the summer. If not... I am sure I can figure something out.

It's a wonderful rainy, gray, and wet morning. It reminds me of home :)

Alright, I am getting ready to go for my run.
It's Thursday. Have a good Thursday. Stay hydrated.

Spring!

It's here.

It was so nice today. It reached all the way up to 59 degrees and the sun was out in full effect.

Michael's birthday ended up being really fun too. We have a big fire pit in the back of our house, and all our neighbors came out and we drank beer and and toasted smores. Awesome.

I have been working working working. Michael made these beautiful panels made from red oak. I didn't have the heart to completely paint them. The surface and the texture is absolutely gorgeous, so I partially painted them. I love painting the steal bridge, and the 405 water tower...but I get kinda bored doing it sometimes. This was a nice change, and although I think they might look a little Urban Outfitters, I am pretty pleased as to how they turned out. I almost didn't finish them because I thought they looked a little bit too much like "hipster art", but Michael told me to stop being ridiculous and just go for it. So I did.

The other paintings are slow going. I didn't realize that I left the marble dust that I need for making gesso in the truck. The same truck that is still in the shop...so...yeah. Tomorrow I am going to get a good start on them.

Overall a great weekend :)

Snow.

It snowed today.
Seriously.

Other than that I have had a terrific day.

Very productive.

I went to the gym for the first time in weeks. My body is going to hate me tomorrow. I did stay far away from the CrunchMaster 3000. I'd like to be able to move tomorrow.

So I tried my hand at block printing today. It's funny to think that I have a degree in Printmaking and have never really made a block print. I was more concerned with mastering my drypoint skills, which I did.

I also started to work on some new panels. Getting them prepped for painting. Hopefully I can start one tomorrow. The one panel has a pretty thick cradle. Michael used some scrap wood and thought it looked cool. I dunno, I guess we'll see how it turns out.

I would like to finish my block print tonight. If I can manage to stay of the internet tonight, I should be able to. I am so addicted. I think I might need an intervention....
