The Days are Getting Shorter

I took yesterday off and did absolutely nothing. Nothing. It was great. I think I really need to do that much more often.

Wait! I did do some things...I listened to the Where the Wild Things are Soundtrack and fell in love with it. Karen O is fantastic.



I do feel a tad guilty for not getting into my studio the last couple of weeks...but...I am really excited about getting back to work. I don't really have any ideas or plans, I'm just really looking forward to being there, in that space.

Well, it's almost mid-October and it seems like summer has been hanging on there until, well, yesterday. It's cold and the rain is suppose to set in this week. Good-bye sun. See you in June.

Taking the Day Off

I know I haven't written a blog in awhile...and well...I don't really have a lot to say today.

I have been working a lot in my studio, and I have several new paintings I'd like you to take a peek at...but, that will have to wait until tomorrow. Today, I am taking a break from my very hot studio, and spending the day outside. My friend Nate and I are heading out to the river, and I am really excited.

So, come check in tomorrow, and hopefully I'll have a sneak peak at some of my new paintings :)

Monday Poop Day

Blerg.

Today has been one of those days.
Nothing seems to be working out in my favor.

I thought I was going to get so many things done, but it just doesn't seem to be happening.
Just a little note, gouache does not work well on gesso...

I managed to get some of my paintings for Surface Gallery finished up today.
I still have so much work to do for this show. It's starting to make me a little nervous. Plus packing and getting things ready for numerous boutiques and small stores...eeks! Sometimes it's so hard not to get overwhelmed. I haven't even started thinking about packing yet. I'm trying not to just for the sake of my sanity. One thing at a time. One. Thing. at. a. Time.

I did manage to have quite a good weekend. We saw I love You Man (very funny) with some friends and we were invited over to dinner last night by our neighbors. I feel like I've been so much more social these last couple of weeks. It's good. I was spending a lot of time alone there for awhile...

anyway, I hope everyone had a good weekend, and that your Monday has been a little more productive than mine.

I had a good weekend.
Not much work got done, but I spent several hours painting today, so hopefully it made up for it.
We took Chloe to the Boston Terrier meet up and came to the conclusion that she just doesn't do well in a room full of crazy Bostons. Hehe. She got sick, and we had to leave a bit early. Oh well.
There's a photo of her where she looks pretty frightened. But who can blame her? Bostons can be pretty intense, and she is pretty mellow compared to them.

We also went to see the movie Coraline which was pretty good. The little girl, Coraline, moves from Pontiac, Michigan to Ashland, Oregon...I thought that was really amusing.

In other news I'm officially on the Poppy Talk Affordable Art site!
So far I haven't really noticed any change in views or sales, so we shall see.

Random Things

Okay so I have a few random things today.

First thing is that the Etsy Encaustic Beeswax Team is having a special benefit sale through the month of February. Select items in our shops will provide a 5% donation the bee research when purchased. You'll know which items these are by the little red heart and bee icon in the listing.
Just go to Etsy and type in beeswaxteam in the search. It should bring up a ton of great artists, and their work. So you can buy a wonderful piece of art, and help out some needy bees. Hehe.

Um, what else, I've been working a lot on my new series of paintings. So far, so good. I really like painting boots.



I'm not really sure what this short movie is about but it has Jack Black, Michael Cera, Paul Rudd, and David Cross in it, and that makes it awesome!

This morning is going so much better.
I am getting work done, listening to a new mix CD, and it's sooo nice outside.

It's weird to think it was 34 degrees yesterday, and it's 57 degrees right now.

So I have several special orders to get done, and I am just about finished with two.

I am also almost done with a little chair painting for the DDP gallery.
It for a charity event that helps to benefit people with disabilities become acting members of their community.

I just realized that I forgot to take a picture of it...
opps.

Moving on...I also finished this painting this other chair painting this morning. I like the lone chair, on the floor, and the the little balloon. It's sad, but happy at the same times.

I am almost done with this typewriter painting too. I painted the keys this morning, and now I have to sit down and figure out the letters, and give it a nice coat of wax.

I have digital photography class tonight and I am really not looking forward to it.
