Neko Case's album "The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the More I Fight, the More I Love You," came out today. If you're looking for some new music to listen to, this is one to consider. It's good. It's really good.
I heard this interview on NPR this morning and it struck a nerve for me. She talks about how her relationship with her parents played a part in writing this album. She also talks about depression and how it influenced her writing. Both things that I identified with and felt a connection to.
You can read the interview here:

In other news, I'm still working on my little book. I'm taking time and considering what goes in it. I typically rush ideas to get them down on paper/panel as fast as I can. Often I'm not 100% happy with the work I make. I want this to be different. I want to reflect. I want to pay attention. I want to be more present with what I'm working on.
So far I am happy with the results. I have a few more pages to work on, and then a cover, which I still haven't quite figured out. I know it will materialize. I'm just going to wait until it does.
Happy Tuesday, folks.

Sometimes some fresh air and some good music playing in your ear phones are just the medicine that you might need.
I really didn't want to go for my run today, but I made myself go anyway, and I'm so glad I did. It picked me up and helped me get out of a little funk today.
I'm a sucker for over produced, pop music for running. I'm not afraid to admit it. However, I am afraid of playing my iPod on shuffle at parties...
Here's the playlist I've been listening to lately:
Girl on Fire - Alicia Keys
Wake Up - Arcade Fire
Halo - Beyonce
Song 2 - Blur
Spanish Bombs - The Clash
Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper
Let's Dance - Lady Gaga
How it Ends - Devotchka
Home - Edward Sharpe
Dog Day are Over - Florence and the Machine
Need You Tonight - INXS
Empire State of Mind - Jay-Z featuring Alicia Keys
Stronger - Kanye West
Stronger - Kelly Clarkson
Bizarre Love Triangle - New Order
Hit it Hard - Peaches
One Step - Yacht
Down Boy - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Sheena is a Punk Rocker - The Ramones
We the Common - Thao and the Get Down Stay Down
I have to say, that Alicia Keys song, "Girl on Fire" really gets me. Especially when I'm on my last mile.

almost
It was sunny and 80 degrees yesterday!
We worked on the yard, rode bikes, drank beer, ate sausages, grilled, and went to see Caveman at Mississippi Studios. It was a full day and I didn't get any work done.
Summer time hasn't started in Portland, but it sure feels like is has. This is just a preview of what's to come... I hope it sticks around a bit longer, but I know not to get my hopes up. However, if the rest of the season is anything like it was yesterday, it's going to be a really fun summer.

Loving this song, by The National, right now.
The lyrics, "Be brave and be kind," speaks volumes to me.

The Days are Getting Shorter
I took yesterday off and did absolutely nothing. Nothing. It was great. I think I really need to do that much more often.
Wait! I did do some things...I listened to the Where the Wild Things are Soundtrack and fell in love with it. Karen O is fantastic.
I do feel a tad guilty for not getting into my studio the last couple of weeks...but...I am really excited about getting back to work. I don't really have any ideas or plans, I'm just really looking forward to being there, in that space.
Well, it's almost mid-October and it seems like summer has been hanging on there until, well, yesterday. It's cold and the rain is suppose to set in this week. Good-bye sun. See you in June.
I hope everyone has a good Monday, a good start to the week.

Ceremony
I'm drinking my morning green tea (yes, I've switched to tea in the mornings and drink a cup of coffee when I get to work) and listening to Joy Division's "Ceremony" at this very moment. Megan Chapman posted it on her Facebook yesterday and I really love the version she linked. So here it is. Thank you Megan! You have such great taste in music.
Okay, I bet you're wondering what's up with the who green tea business. I am too, kinda.
The truth is, I am terrible at making coffee.
There, I said it and now you know my secret.
So, until I get better at it, it's green tea. It's healthy for you, right? It's got some good stuff in it. Plus it wakes me up and it's easy to make. I'm not giving up coffee. No, no, no. I love it too much. But....for now....it's green tea.

End of Summer

So...
I was on Facebook, and saw this post made by NPR, and I am totally stealing it. Well, not the article, but the play list. It's the perfect little play list for the end of summer...

Good Times

I discovered Pandora the other day.
I've known about it for awhile...I just never thought I'd really be into it.
I was wrong. Very wrong.
I fricken love this website.
For someone who sits and listens to music all day, this site is perfect. It's totally free and easy to sign up for. You just plug in a band, or a song, you'd like to hear, and it makes a play list/station for you. There are some commercials, but only about 1 every hour or so.
Today I've been reliving my past by listening to some of my favorite bands from when I was 15. Screeching Weasel, The Queers, Rancid, Minor Threat, all, and so many many more. I love it.
It's bring back some really great memories for me.
Really great memories.
If you'd like to check out my stations so far you can here.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

La La La La

La la la la la la...
Not a lot to say today.
Ran a lot of errands, went to the art supply store, and ate a burrito.
That's about it.
I wish I had buckets of money to buy art supplies with.
Why are they so freakin expensive??
Seriously. I bought three pieces of paper, two pens, and two tubes of paint, and it totaled $45.00!
WTF? Seriously??
Okay, so they weren't your typical paper, pens, and paint. They were pretty high quality items, but when you break it down, well, they were paper, pens, and paint....
Anyway, that's all I got today.
I'll be adding lots of new things this week, so be sure to check it out...
Back to listening to music and watching snow flakes.
