Hooray! I have new things in my shop. It always makes me feel so productive when I'm able to list new things in my Etsy shop.

Peek - A - Whoo

I listed several new 5x7" prints. I'll be listing some 8x10" prints of the same images later this week. I'm also going to be listing some more 5x7" prints as well.

 I'm also hoping to get my new Boston Terrier birthday card listed this week! I'm excited about that. It's my first birthday card and I hope it goes over well. How could a Boston Terrier with a cupcake not go over well? Right?

It's mid January and I'm already craving sunshine. This is not a good thing.

I'm glad we're heading to San Diego for a few days. I just really hope it doesn't rain there.
I don't usually mind the cold and the grey. Well, not until May, typically...

I feel like the sun gives me energy and omph! Which I feel like I am really lacking these days. I laid in bed for 45 minutes trying to get myself up for a run this morning. I felt a bit stale creatively in my studio this afternoon too.

However, I did see a picture of a cat and decided that I needed to paint it. So that's what I did. And I like it. I like this style I've been working in. All of those little lines are brushstrokes. I find it so meditating to paint all of those little lines. I listen to music, think and paint little lines in different colors. I enjoy it very much.

I also finished my custom portrait of Dolly. The client is very happy with the end results and so am I.

My photos aren't great and it's because I'm not working with any natural light here. It's been pretty dark all day, and now it's even darker with evening coming in.

I hope you can get a good idea on how they look :)

I've been working on two new illustrations and a commissioned dog portrait this past week.

I realized that I have quite a number of animal pictures done, and I was thinking of hanging them as a show somewhere.

Where? I'm not sure. The idea came to me this morning while taking a shower. Isn't it interesting that some of your best ideas come to you while taking a shower? Or reading a book? Or drinking a cup of tea?

Anyway, the idea is there, now to shop around for a space!

Back to Work!

I started working in my little office studio this morning. I was able to get these two small illustrations done. I also got our garage in fairly good shape, and I'm hoping to get in there to do some painting this week. Good things all around.

Good Place

It is the most perfect day in Portland today. I'm finding myself in a good place for the first time in weeks.

It feels good.

I'm focusing on adding new illustrations to Etsy while focusing on what makes me happy.
I get too caught up in what I think people would like to buy, and so that's what I try to make...

So, I've been doing some little exercises to try to prevent that. Mostly making art for myself, knowing I won't be sharing it with anyone. It's good. I like it.

Okay, this is the last stop on my to-do list!
I did update the shop with some new illustrations, so be sure to check those out as well!

Good Morning

Well, it's morning here anyway.

It's my day off and I don't feel like doing anything. It's rainy and cold and I just want to sit and drink coffee and work on my illustrations.

So that's exactly what I'll be doing!
I'm also hoping to post the two newest bird illustrations up in my Etsy shop today.

I can't believe that Thanksgiving is 2 and a half weeks away! The store I work at is getting crazy busy, and it is just going to get crazier. I thankfully was given a three day weekend that week and I fully intend to use every minute very wisely.

Well, these illustrations aren't going to finish themselves, so I off to make things and hopefully relax a bit today.

Hi!

Summer has yet to arrive in the Pacific Northwest. The gray, Portland, skies have left me unmotivated to do much these days.
I feel like I need to be charged up. all of the usual things that get me going just aren't doing it these days.

I did manage to get a couple of little illustrations done yesterday! I'm hoping to wrap up my little project today too. If I can just find that little glimmer of motivation in me.

So....the snow is gone! Whoohoo! That lasted less than 24 hours. :)

In other news, I got lots of work done today! Whoohoo! Started two new paintings, put some finishing touches on two other paintings, and finished two illustrations today. I feel like I'm on a role.

Tomorrow is the last day of 2009. I'm looking forward to the new year. I think it's going to be a great one.

21 Days!

21 Days until Christmas!

21 days! I'm excited! I love Christmas.
I'm mostly just excited to have the day off, and get back to working part time.

ps. My soup turned out pretty good. Next time I'm just using vegetable stock, and not so much bacon...

I'd share pictures, but none of them turned out. So instead I will shamelessly promote the two new illustrations I finished yesterday :)

Slow Kinda Day

I don't really feel like doing the heaps of painting that I need to do today.

I'm just not into it.
I think I'll give it a try, see what happens. Maybe it will come to be once I get started.

So, I finished packing up all my orders from yesterday, and the day before.
Being featured on a popular blog is a funny thing.

You sell and sell and get message after message, and then, once your featured item gets moved to the 4th or 5th page, it completely stops. Weird.

Well, it was fun while it lasted :D
hehe.

Anyway, I got two more illustration/works in paper done a few days ago and thought I would share...

That's about it. I should get to work. I really should...

Ran a lot of errands, went to the art supply store, and ate a burrito.

That's about it.

I wish I had buckets of money to buy art supplies with.
Why are they so freakin expensive??
Seriously. I bought three pieces of paper, two pens, and two tubes of paint, and it totaled $45.00!
WTF? Seriously??

Okay, so they weren't your typical paper, pens, and paint. They were pretty high quality items, but when you break it down, well, they were paper, pens, and paint....

Anyway, that's all I got today.

Wow. Just Wow.

I was contacted by admin today about having one of my items featured in tomorrows Etsy finds!
Yay! It's one of my illustrations :)

So...last night something happened on Etsy that I had only heard stories about. I guess I never really believed that it did happen.

I really don't want to get into details here. I try to stay away from drama at all costs, but this really was hard to believe. It made me feel really hurt and sad.

Anyway, like I said, I don't want to give any details, and I don't want to dwell on it. It's time to move on. I just wanted to get it off my chest...

Since selling on Etsy I have had nothing but a wonderful experience. Everyone has been very supportive and helpful, and I have made some really great friends, and that is what is important.

So Michael's presentation went really well last night. One of the highlights of the evening was Paintings intro skit. I'll just say that at the end of the skit they projected a Thomas Kincaid painting on the screen that had $$$PAINTING$$$ written across it in gold letters with gold $$ signs surrounding it. Yes. It was awesome.

Oh!! Another happy note! Today is Wednesday the 24th so that means tomorrow is Thursday the 25th which also means that it is the season premier of The Office!! yay!! I wonder when Jim is going to propose to Pam, and how he's going to do it. I know I am going to cry when it happens, because I am a nerd like that. Anwyay, i am really excited about it. :)

Alright, it's about 2pm which means that it's time to take Lucy, my neighbors dog, out.

It's my birthday today :)

Another year. 27 was good. It was really good. 28 is going to be awesome, I can feel it.

So I am trying not to spend too much time on the computer today. We'll see how that goes...
I don't have any big plans today. I am just letting things happen as they happen, and see where the day leads me. I think some mojitos might be on the agenda though :)

Ok, well, I promised myself not to be on the computer too much...so I should be on my way. Thanks for all the birthday wishes on my previous post everyone!

Hot, Gross, Blah

It's hot and gross here.
Whoever decided that Michigan was an ideal place to settle was out of their mind. Seriously.
It's really cold in the winter and so muggy and gross in the summer you wish it was negative 20 degrees just so that you could breathe....

blah.
It doesn't helpt that Mikey isn't feeling good today either. Poop on a stick times 10.

What a pooptacular day. It's been one of those days where I can't escape my brain and I have been living in my head all afternoon and morning.

Just thinking about all the people I use to know and hang out with over the last 10 or so years...how I haven't spoken to a lot of them in a really long time and it kinda makes me sad and lonely...oh well.

Anyway, I am glad to still know and talk to the people I have kept in touch with :)

So I made these really sweet little illustrations last night while listening the the crazy thunderstorm outside. That is one thing Michigan has going for it weather wise. Awesome thunder and lightening storms almost every night. Anyway, I made these from some screen prints. I made the prints and then drew and painted on them with pencil and gouache.
I really like them. I made a couple more that I will post tomorrow on my Etsy.

I think I am almost done with the paintings for my shows...and I'll be posting those pictures soon too.
