Catching Up!

Wow!
I feel like I haven't written a blog post in years!

It's been awhile...I'm not announcing the give away winner yet, I just felt like writing a blog today...

So I have been very busy.
The Spring ling Craft fair is next Saturday! Holy crap! Where does time go?
So I am making some things for that as well as making the decorations for it.
I still have four banners to make. Eeks!

I have also been working on a special piece for an ad agency out of Minnesota.
They wanted to see if I could do a painting of the Detroit skyline for a medical group they
are doing some work for. They wanted a happy healthy looking Detroit :) hehe. I sent in the image just now...I really hope they like it so far.
It's not quite done, but they needed something to show their client.

I've been running a lot lately and I feel so much better. It's one thing to work out at a gym and something totally different actually running outdoors without sweaty people and bad t.v on. Well, I guess they do have CNN, but, it's always the same bad news about the economy, AIG and Obama. I swear the 24 hour news stations are partly to blame for this economic crisis. They're on 24 hours a day and need something to talk about...so naturally they're going to talk about the economy 24/7 scarring everyone and their moms.

Well, anyway...other good news...I got my studio in the warehouse with a group of friends and people I know! whoohoo! I am so happy. :) It's small..about 100 sq. feet, but it has walls and a door, so that's nice. It's also right along the waterfront so I'll be able to go for runs and walks along the Willamette! Yes! It's one of my favorite running spots in Portland.

We've got about 6 weeks left till graduation. I can't believe it.
Wow. We're getting so close. So close.

Well, I hope everyone is well!

So it Begins!

Today was the first day, of the second year, at Cranbrook.

I have been thinking a lot about why I moved here this weekend, and what it's been like.
I moved here because I knew things were going to be difficult either way. I knew that either I was going to miss Mike terribly if I stayed, or I would miss home terribly if I moved.

This has been a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. I feel like I haven't been the best supporter here. That maybe I complain about this living situation too much. Maybe I am doing more harm than good. I feel like maybe this isn't so bad, that if I just focus on the positive this whole thing would be a lot easier. I feel like I am the one making this harder on both of us.

This whole situation has been really difficult for both of us, and on our relationship...and I think that if I had to do this over again I would have stayed home. On the other hand, this experience has allowed me to see that I can make art and make a living. Giving and taking.

I think this school year will be a lot better than last year...I know what to expect. I know how to handle certain situations and that the end is so close. I just want this stress to be done with and over. I just want things to go back to how they were, and I am not really sure if that will really happen.

Blerg.

Anyway, I got a lot of stuff done today, and I am almost ready for this upcoming art fair. It's a two day event in Ferndale, and I am a little worried. I am really afraid that I won't have enough stuff. I think that I would be fine if it was one day...but two?? Eeks. I am nervous...

So I have been doing a lot of printing the last couple of days. One of the ceramic students at Cranbrook also happens to have an Etsy shop. His name is Tim, and he gave Michael this really great screen printing tip. You first print on acetate, then move your paper over to line it up with the printed acetate, then pull the acetate away, bring your screen down, print, and voila! Perfect registration :)

I don't have any pictures of said prints, but I thought I would include some pictures of Chloe. She had a good day of napping on clean clothes straight from the dryer, and she also got some good naps in the sun...ah...what a life.

August is Awesome

So, not only was my birthday in August, but I have also had the best sales month ever.

Which makes me feel really good, because the beginning of the month was practically dead.
One of the reasons I believe it has been so busy is because I was featured on http://sfgirlbybay.com/.

Yay! It's a really cute site, and I am so thankful to be featured on it :)

I have been doing a lot of work the last few days too. I am trying to get ready for Christmas and I have several art shows that I am doing this Fall, so I want to make sure I have a lot of stuff ready for that. I have also been trying to organize all my expenses and sales and what not for tax purposes. That hasn't been as fun...in fact it's pretty much poop on a stick.

Anyway, the work I have been making is getting a little more abstract, and the colors are really similar to my favorite colors in the fourth grade. But I am really happy with them.

So that's all I got for today. I have to keep this short because Chloe is dying to go outside and chase squirrels :) Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday.
