Monday Poop Day

Blerg.

Today has been one of those days.
Nothing seems to be working out in my favor.

I thought I was going to get so many things done, but it just doesn't seem to be happening.
Just a little note, gouache does not work well on gesso...

I managed to get some of my paintings for Surface Gallery finished up today.
I still have so much work to do for this show. It's starting to make me a little nervous. Plus packing and getting things ready for numerous boutiques and small stores...eeks! Sometimes it's so hard not to get overwhelmed. I haven't even started thinking about packing yet. I'm trying not to just for the sake of my sanity. One thing at a time. One. Thing. at. a. Time.

I did manage to have quite a good weekend. We saw I love You Man (very funny) with some friends and we were invited over to dinner last night by our neighbors. I feel like I've been so much more social these last couple of weeks. It's good. I was spending a lot of time alone there for awhile...

anyway, I hope everyone had a good weekend, and that your Monday has been a little more productive than mine.

Hang in there friend!
Tomorrow will be better!
At least your not trying to do last minute taxes on top of all that!

I can relate to trying to stay sane, we are moving in a little over a month too and we haven't even found a place to live yet. Stress! But do hang in there, and I will too :)

I always save a ton of stuff to do for Monday, and then never seem to get done what needs to...

I think winters in the midwest make it really hard to be social. So many days go by that are too cold to leave the house!

I popped in through flickr and your title said it all. I will let you in on my secret theory. I have always said in response to Friday the 13th.."how can a Friday possibly be bad??...it is Monday the 13th you have to watch out for" It was a crap day right from the go, had to work (pharmacist on a Monday after being closed a day) so my crap day wasn't even an art day full of hope turned bad...no art...just crap! Don't worry, I think artists are people who pull it all together their best in the final hours...something about the adrenaline panic that gets things accomplished even more creatively. You are very talented so even if you give it your worst, others will still be in awe as your art speaks. Best wishes indeed!

...ps...do you make your own wood panels?...I think I am in love with the look of those....(like I need another art obsession)

Thanks Sarah and Susan!! :D
I'm hanging in there.

Karen-
I will from now on be wary of Monday the 13th! I do make my own panels, well, my boyfriend does :)
You can also order them through Dick Blick, which is what I might end up doing after our move to Oregon. We had access to a pretty amazing wood shop here, that's why I was able to have mine made...

I love working on panel. I don't think I could ever go back to canvas again.

I figured they were made special just by the look. Have seen them on Dick Blick and not cheap for experimenting. I do a lot of art with a coating of bees wax but am leery of doing a large piece with canvas due to the give and possibility of the wax cracking eventually. Canvas is also not the smoothest for detail unless it is collaged first. I have had some wood cut at the local lumber shop for me, small chunks and love everything about them, the feel, the surface, etc. I have heard that the clayboard surface is amazing to work with too...looks like I may have to try some. I can see why you would never go back! Thank you!!
