Succulent

Well, it's another beautiful day in Portland. 60 Degrees and sunny!

So lovely! I just w
ant to drink coffee, draw, ride my bike, and hang out with Chloe all day...

I have tomorrow off, and it's suppose to be another beautiful day, so I think that will be the day I have. I'm really looking forward to it.

I've been
a little obsessed with succulents lately. They seem to be taking over my neighborhood. I think I love them.

I
also found the sweetest little whitish pink cabbage on my morning walk.

Well, I hope everyone h
as a great weekend :)

8:30 on a Sunday Night

So...it's Sunday.

My four days of solitude are up!
I had a good time. I handled it very well. It's funny...Michael went to China for 1o days 2 years ago, and I thought I was going to fall apart. My poor room mates didn't know what to do with me...
I think having to work at a crummy job didn't make my situation any better either.

It's nice to see how much I have grown. I think I called him...maybe once? Twice? I don't know.
Yay! I am all grown up :)

So it was really nice spending time alone. I got some work done. Not as much as I would have liked, but you know...that's the way creativity works sometimes.

I'd like to say a big thanks to Megan Chapman! I listened to her play list on her myspace the last two days. It's awesome. I really needed some new music, and I really enjoyed it. I also got a very good mixed cd from a fellow Etisan and I have been listening to that quite a bit :)

I was going to write a blog about music, and how important it is to me and my work, but I didn't really feel like writing a small novel tonight, so maybe some other blog. I will say that music is really important to me. I don't have a television, or even a radio, and I have to have some kind of noise in the house while I am working. So music is played all day. All day...so most of the music I have is memorized to the point where all I have to hear is the first few notes and I can tell you what artist and what song. If they still had Name That Tune on TV I would be a champ!

So that was my weekend. It was good.

Ahhhh Sunday

So we went out this afternoon!
Shopping!

It is so amazing to me how much the economy sucks here, and yet, there are really awesome stores. We went to H&M today. I've been waiting to go since we moved here and we drove past it. It was ok. It's more like a Forever 21, but for more "sophisticated" crowd. Think Forever 21 meets hipster/business types.

I got 3 new t-shirts and a new hoodie for $50 buck. I know, I told K.Trinkets that I wouldn't go shopping before I go to SD, but they don't have a H&M there...and I could use some 8 dollar t-shirts. At the same mall they also have a Neiman Marcus Last Call and a Saks Rack. Sweet!

I got almost all my homework done...and I got some paintings finished.

Good day.
Now I got to get some orders together, and I'll be all done.

I think I am spending way to much time on the computer. Today, as I was painting, I made a little mistake, and my first response was to hit control Z. Haha. Yeah...

Not So Lazy Sunday!

Whew!

So I got in like 6 orders this weekend and I want to get them out tomorrow. That meant spending the whole afternoon getting them ready to ship.

But it's all done and Chloe helped too.

Today as I was packing up all of my customers goodies I was thinking about where I was a year ago. I was working at my crummy job and wishing that I was doing what I am today. Don't get me wrong. New Seasons was a great place to work. That is if you liked working retail. It was the best retail job I ever had, but I still wasn't happy.

I think that from the time I was about 23 or 24 I wished that I could make art for a living. I always dreamed about living in a little studio apartment and walking to get my daily latte at a little coffee place and then riding my bike to my studio...ah...what a wonderful vision :)

Well, at least part of that is true. I am making art everyday. Maybe I am not riding my bike to my studio, or getting a latte beforehand, but I am making art! And it's actually paying bills!!
I never in my life would have ever believed that I could actually make a living at this. I mean, I always thought it was so unrealistic. But now it's happening and it's pretty *expletive* amazing :) Ha!

Anyway, I thought I would mention that my friend Sarah started an Etsy shop and you should definitely check out her work. We went to school together and were roomates for a short time a few years ago :) She's a wonderful person and a fantastic artist! I posted some of her work on this blog too.
Hope everyone had a great weekend.
