Let's Celebrate!

So in just a few days March will be here.
March is a pretty significant month for me.

March 7 marks my two year anniversary on Etsy (even though I didn't really start selling until the end of October 2007).

March 9th marks Michael's 8 week mark until graduation. Yay!

March 21st is the first day of Spring! Yay! That's something to really look forward to as well.

Anyway, lots of great dates are coming up and I thought it would be a great way to celebrate by having a month long blog give away! Yes, the entire month :D

So...this is how it will work. Starting on Monday, I will post a question, and I will give my answer, and would like for you to leave your answer in the comments section. Every Thursday evening at 7pm, I will draw a name randomly, and announce the winner on Friday! Every week during March.

Sound good? You wanna know what you're playing for? (Hehe...that was my nerdy Survivor Jeff Proust quote...)
You'll be playing for a free 5x7" print :) I'll post the print that is up for grabs every Monday. So, if you're not really into it, you don't have to waste your time with an answer ;)

Well, that's about it. It's a gray cold day here in Pontiac, and I've been listening to the Decemberists and drinking peppermint tea all day....
I seriously can't believe that we are getting down to counting weeks...9...wow. It's keeping me going for sure.

Hope you all have a great, safe, weekend!

Random Things

Okay so I have a few random things today.

First thing is that the Etsy Encaustic Beeswax Team is having a special benefit sale through the month of February. Select items in our shops will provide a 5% donation the bee research when purchased. You'll know which items these are by the little red heart and bee icon in the listing.
Just go to Etsy and type in beeswaxteam in the search. It should bring up a ton of great artists, and their work. So you can buy a wonderful piece of art, and help out some needy bees. Hehe.

Um, what else, I've been working a lot on my new series of paintings. So far, so good. I really like painting boots.

I'm not really sure what this short movie is about but it has Jack Black, Michael Cera, Paul Rudd, and David Cross in it, and that makes it awesome!

Um, I think that's about it.
Hope everyone is having a great Monday! :)

Thursday!

Wow!
Such a great response to yesterdays blog!
Thanks everyone! I am so glad that I was able to inspire some of you :)
Really, everyone that reads this blog inspires me as well.
I always have sort of this feeling that I should make something just so I can post it to show you all. And some of you read my blog on a daily basis! Awesome!

Well, January is almost over.
January has been such a great month for me! I really hope February is as good to me as January.
Fingers are crossed.

February means that I only have three months left! I know that sounds like crazy talk, but it's true! As of today we have 3 months and 11 days! I told Michael that in 2 months we can say that we only have four weeks to go, and he looked and me and said, "That just gave me chills." Haha! Yes!

I'm also posting a picture of San Diego Bay, because it's my friend K. Trinks birthday, and I wish I was there to celebrate it with her. Happy Birthday K. Trinks! :)
Anyway, that's all I gots today. Hope you're all having a good Thursday :)

La La La La

La la la la la la...

Not a lot to say today.
Ran a lot of errands, went to the art supply store, and ate a burrito.

That's about it.

I wish I had buckets of money to buy art supplies with.
Why are they so freakin expensive??
Seriously. I bought three pieces of paper, two pens, and two tubes of paint, and it totaled $45.00!
WTF? Seriously??

Okay, so they weren't your typical paper, pens, and paint. They were pretty high quality items, but when you break it down, well, they were paper, pens, and paint....

Anyway, that's all I got today.
I'll be adding lots of new things this week, so be sure to check it out...

Back to listening to music and watching snow flakes.

Thursday

It's Thursday!

What does that mean??

Nothing really.

Just another day.

So, these are the new paintings I am working on.

I've been so busy with orders the last couple of days I haven't really had time to make anything new. But, that's a good thing!

It's still cold and snowy, and Chloe is still sleeping on radiators.

Another day down, another one to go.

Just Another Friday....

Not a lot to say today.

Other than I am really proud of my best friend Kim.
She has been working her ass of the last few years and it's paying off.

She has been going to school full time, working full time, and this last year was the president of the accounting society at San Diego State. This last week she completed 15 hours of interviews, and yesterday got a job offer! She was really worried that she wouldn't be able to get a job, but I knew she would because she is a total rock star! So congrats to you K.Trinks!!
If I lived closer I'd take you out for beers and a basket of tater tots!!

God, I can't imagine what 15 hours of interviews is like...it sounds awful...

Anyway, busy weekend ahead.
Lots of work to do.
Lots of things planned!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Be safe!

Thursday!

What is it about Thursday?
I love Thursdays and I don't know why.

I have a lot of things to do today, and I am ready to get started....

Just trying to figure out if I want to go for a run this morning.
I'd like to get as much running done before the winter comes.
Ah....winter. I am ready for Fall. It's still really warm and sunny here.
I want cold and rainy :) My friend thinks I am crazy...but I love that weather.
I guess you kinda have to if you live in Oregon, well, lived in Oregon.
I do get tired of it around March...but for the most part I love it.

I started working on my self portrait series yesterday, and I am really excited.
I think that these are going to convey a lot of things that I have been thinking about the last couple of years, but never really knew how to do it.

Well, I am going to finish my coffee, and get this day started.
Hope your Thursday goes well :)

7 Irrelevant Things About Me

Ok.

So I have been tagged not once, but twice! Once by ArtKitten and once by ChristopherandTia.

I have been racking my brain for useless facts that you probably don't know about me, and honestly I think I have shared much of these facts with you already...so I have had to come up with some new ones, that maybe you don't know already.....

Here I go:

1. I have a giant tattoo on my back. It wasn't suppose to be this big....
I went in and Jerry Ware at Atlas Tattoo in PDX, had drawn it up for me, and it honestly didn't look that big on paper. Then he put it on my back, and it still really didn't look THAT big...and then he showed me what it looked like about half way through...and it did look really big. But, what could I do? Besides...if you're going to get a tattoo, you might as well go big, right? :)

2. Wet bread totally grosses me out. If there is bread or cereal in the sink, and it's wet, I seriously want to gag. It's so disgusting. Ewwww......

3. I have a huge crush on Ira Glass of This American Life. *swoon*

4. In my early 20's I tried to be really cool and pretend that I didn't care about boys and their feelings. I had been hurt pretty bad by a couple of guys, and decided that from that point on I would treat guys the way that I had been treated. Yeah, I learned pretty quick, and hard, that that wasn't the kind of person I am at all.

5. When I was 16 I had really long hair. It went down to the middle of my back. My best friend and I decided that it would be really cool if we just bleached the front part of my bangs too. So for two weeks I walked around with bleached yellow blonde bangs. It finally relaxed and actually looked kinda cool. I hope that it's ok that I post this picture of the both of us Trinks...I love it. We went to the mall and got our pictures taken professionally by one of those Children's Portrait Places :)

6. I loved Bikini Kill when I was 16. I still do, but I use to worship Kathleen Hanna. I made my own Bikini Kill shirt using acrylic paint and a water color paint brush. It was very cool, and I wish I still had it.

7. The final one! My friend and I wanted to start a punk band when we were 15. We didn't have the money to buy equipment, but we would sit at Starbucks and try to write songs that we thought were cool. Haha. That's actually kind of embarrassing...

Ok. The continuation of 7 Irrelevant Things about me continues tomorrow. And I'll announce the people that I tag too!!

ps...here are some pictures of what I was working on today :)

Critiques

Blah!
I have a critique tonight in my digital photography class.

I thought I had seen the last of critiques when I graduated....nope!

I really hate critiques. Really. I mean, it would be one thing if they were actually useful, but most of the time it's a bunch of people staring at your work saying things like, "I really like how you used red in your picture."

Or I love it when people say, "Oh! It looks like a toaster I had when I was growing up." Or I think it looks more like the Easter Bunny wearing a Santa suit." Yeah. I just want to get this over with....

I don't want to sound like some sort of art snob or something. I mean, it's not like I ever say anything remotely intelligent or helpful. I just find the whole process really painful.

On another note. I think Michael wants to move to New York. He said I was going to love it, and want to move there too. I've always wanted to live in New York, but I don't know. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I still love Portland. It will always be my home.

Speaking of New York...I leave in like 2 weeks! Eeeee!! I am really nervous. Really. I am afraid of getting lost mostly. I have the worst sense of direction, and can't read a map to save my life.
Butch will be there...but I know he has to work, so it's up to me to get around most of the time. I will probably just stay mostly in Williamsburg, and venture out with Butch. I am excited though. Very excited.

Happy Monday.
